Umbrellas 3:54 PM

“Usually, when it is misty, we don’t use umbrellas” she notes from my side as we set out for the grocery store.

I know what she means. A little mist doesn’t bother me. In fact, umbrellas don’t usually do much good when it is just misty outside.

But today we use umbrellas to keep the wind from blowing the mist in our eyes.

I use an umbrella to try and keep my sweatshirt dry, if just a tad.

Perhaps it just isn’t warm enough not to use an umbrella?

Or perhaps I yield the umbrellas as a sort of shield – protecting me and my daughter from the world beyond our front door?

It is March, after all, and no one really ever knows what could happen in March!
